Planning Update with 216 Days to Go

I feel bad that we didn't updated this blog last month, but it's been busy and we didn't have a whole lot of progress to report anyway.

I am starting to feel like the wedding we be here before we know it. Trying not to worry too much, just keep plugging away at the details i can nail down. In the meantime, we had a lovely Passover Seder with some good friends this year, have both recently (finally) gotten jobs again, have enjoyed lots of extra time with one of our nephews, and have been delighted to meet our newest nephew who was born just a few weeks ago. Spring is here. Things are looking up. I'm trying to take the advice of my best friend's sister and enjoy the planning process as much as possible.

Here is what we have accomplished:
* venue chosen, contract signed, working on the seating charts etc
* venue is also our caterer and most of the reason we picked the venue as we needed someone capable of providing gluten free food
* invite list updated and approved by the moms

* dress pattern is complete - just need to buy silk and put the last bit together

* MOH may have found a dress :)
* P and i decided what his haircut will be for the wedding, i have decided what i want for my hair and have a good lead on who i might have to do it
* chuppah designed (we're making it), have decided to cover with P's tallis from his bar mitzvah, P-mom to decorate
* P-mom has purchased decorations for the rehearsal dinner and is working on a venue (original venue had accessibility issues)

* P and i have designed our Ketubah (see previous post for the mock-up of it) and we have most of the text chosen

* we have most of the music chosen and arranged for the whole day (we will be ipod-ing it) and have hired a friend to "push the button, Frank"
* ceremony is about 3/4 written * my brother has kindly agreed to walk me down the aisle
* i have my something old (great grandma's ring) and my something new (the dress) and my something blue (late step-grandmother's cameo that i am thinking of attaching to my bouquet)
* solid idea of what flowers i want in my bouquet, my MoH's bouquet, and the bouts and corsages (for which i have some seedlings already sprouting to hopefully be able to DIY some of it)
* started getting quotes from bakeries for our cake(s) but have temporarily put this on hold out of frustration

* invites mostly designed and about half done with the wording/map details
* have picked out some simple silver wedding bands, but waiting to purchase till closer to the wedding
* P has been out looking at suits and we have a pretty good idea of what he's wanting to wear
* cake toppers designed and about half of the way done

* decorations have been decided on and are started
* finally came up with a good idea for favors

* P has chosen his good friend from college for his best man
* we have tentatively picked a honeymoon location

left to do:

* need to contact the kosher meal caterers for P's brother's family's food
* i haven't something borrowed nor a sixpence for my shoe
* still unsure about shoes

* have researched many photographers but have yet to interview/ choose one (and am choking a bit over the prices...)

* need to interview florists
* we have a great idea for our guestbook pages but haven't designed/made them yet
* a couple new ideas for officiates but haven't been able to interview anyone yet - anyone know a good officiate in the Indianapolis area willing to follow a script?
* looking forward to my cousin's wedding this summer and hoping she is stressing less than we

while we respect other couples' choices to do differently, we are feeling liberated by not doing the following:

* no limo

* no videographer

* no DJ * no excess bridesmaids/groomsmen
* no tiny tots *in* the wedding (ringbearers and the like)

* no keepsake glasses or cake cutting utensils
