Post-Wedding Post: Rehearsal thru Ceremony

The weekend of our wedding began with Stella's arrival from Panama on Thursday. Stella and Kimberly have been friends since there time together at Purdue more than a decade ago. Kimberly and Stella spent most of the day finding shoes to go with Stella's dress for the wedding and taking care of last minute preparations for the favors. That day also saw the arrival of Dr. L. Anne Browne, a family friend of Philip's who drove out from the east coast. Philip had a nice chat and a cup of tea with her that evening.

Last Post before the Big Day

Philip has this morning likened planning a DIY Wedding to the planning of the battle of Normandy. I'm not sure i completely understand the connection he's making but i do know i feel like i've had to fight to keep all of the final details from falling apart this week. Four days out and there is no where to sit in our small apartment. Every surface, every chair is piled high with wedding decorations, reception food, dress-related sewing paraphernalia, and totes full of favors. The last two weeks have seen a stomach flu, sleepless nights, stressful workdays (job stress for Philip, a bustle that has been anything but cooperative for me), and wedding vendors throwing us last minute curve-balls. But they have also been filled with friends who have stepped up and helped us stay (or regain) calm, let us vent, got us out of the wedding-stuff-packed apartment for much-needed relaxation, and brought us into a joyful celebration of life as a sweet little girl turned one.

So this is it, the last pre-wedding post. In 4 days i will be a wife. In 4 days Philip and i will be married and if everything else falls apart on the day, we will still have the part that matters. He is my hero, he is my friend, he is my love, and soon he will be my husband. It doesn't get better than that.
