Sewing Posts

For any who don't know I have been working on a mostly sewing-related blog this year. Seeing as Monday is our first Anniversary (omg wow!!) I've been blogging about the sewing I did for the wedding. Feel free to go check it out if you are interested.

266 Days to go!!

After some delay due to massive quantities of snow, P and my mom and i finally made it down to our Wedding/reception venue this morning to hash out the details and sign the contract. Soooooo happy and relieved that is finally behind us. Pictures posted here (including a short 360 view video with P being silly at the end)

Besides the fact that we've both suddenly started FREAKING OUT about getting everything done before wedding time is here, here is what we have accomplished:

Boning and Flossing

This week i finished enough of the corset to begin draping the actual dress (sorry, no peeking!) and have begun flossing the boning in the very front and back (the flat steels).

Here are a couple of pics:

Short Progress Report

The boning for the corset arrived just after Thanksgiving so I've been making good progress on the wedding dress. We've also been going over music, deciding what music we'd like at the reception and (more arduously) the wedding ceremony itself. Additionally we're still trying to figure out where we'd like to honeymoon. As cold as it has been the last few weeks... we're thinking someplace warm would be nice. ^_^

All for now
cheers!

Bloglag...

Sorry i haven't posted anything in a while. Shortly after my last post i was able to try on what was intended to be the corset for my wedding gown. It was a horrible failure.

I couldn't even bear to look at or work with the material for quite a while. After about a month (and with the pressure of time starting to bear down on me!) I scrapped the pattern that i had drafted and started over from scratch.

I am happy to report that the new pattern not only works out better mathematically (yay nerdiness!!) but fits really really well. I'll be cutting the pieces for the actual corset for the actual dress and actually ordering boning for it within a week or so. YAY!!

In other news, we have seen quite a few venues at this point. I really like the last one but am concerned that i am just liking the idea that the 'searching for a venue' part of this could possibly be over.

Pattern

Short post for lack of time, sorry.

I will, of course, be corsetted for the dress and so needed to finish that portion of the design work first as it is more difficult and exacting than the dress itself.

Have finished laying out my design on the muslin and hope to get it pieced together this weekend for a proper fitting. If i like how it fits i can go ahead and order the boning and cut the strength layer(s) of the fabric.

Next step is Petticoat/Crenoline. Anyone know where i can buy one cheap? anyone who has ever sewn or attempted to sew either tulle or netting will understand why... I think i'd rather stick sharp objects in my eyes...

Dress Pics

So people have been bugging me more and more for pics of the dress, which does*not*exist*yet. Well, i've decided to relent a little and post one or two pics along the way.

I'm sure this means that now you all know *so*much*more*than*you*did*before*.

LOL
:)

(i know; i'm mean.)

And Sew it Begins...

Last week i finally started work on my wedding dress. It is slow going, and i'm already tweaking the pattern as i go and fretting over the weight i've gained this year (yay for stress eating).

Sorry, there won't be any pictures of the dress till after the wedding because i want to keep it a secret, but i promise to post pictures of the whole process afterward.

Also, some possible good news: we may have found a venue for the wedding/reception and will be visiting this next weekend to decide for sure.

First Wedding Purchases

Beyond all of the little things a girl can't help but run out and get the second she gets engaged (notebooks, bridal magazines, etc) i had not really made any purchases toward the wedding until now.

Yesterday Hancock Fabrics had a sale on their muslin and i couldn't resist...

For those of you who don't know (or wouldn't already just assume haha) i am hoping to make my own wedding dress and possibly that of my Maid of Honor. So the muslin is basically pattern-fabric with which to create trial runs/a pattern of the dress.

I bought a whole bolt.

It should just be enough - unless i change the pattern - - - again... lol
