300 Days Until Our Wedding

RAWR!!yes, we're a bit twisted...

Besides the fact that we've both suddenly started FREAKING OUT about getting everything done before wedding time is here, here is what we have accomplished:

  • date decided on is 7 November 2010
  • budget is pretty much set
  • staying organized (yay!)
  • wedding website started with regular monthly updates
  • venue chosen, contract due to be signed in the next few weeks - venue is also caterer so menu is mostly set (and able to do all gluten free)
  • invite list updated and approved by the moms
  • dress is coming along nicely and my mom and i have had a dress-shopping 'event'
  • MOH chosen and she and i have discussed dresses and will try to find something we like this spring
  • P and i decided what his haircut will be for the wedding
  • chuppah designed (we're making it), have decided to cover with P's tallis from his bar mitzvah, P's mom to decorate
  • FMIL has purchased decorations for the rehersal dinner and is working on a venue
  • we have a couple of ketubah designs we like and P and i are looking to make our own instead of spending several hundred dollars on one
  • we have a good start on choosing music for the whole day
  • ceremony is about half written
  • my brother has kindly agreed to walk me down the aisle
  • i have my something old (great grandma's ring) and my something new (the dress)
left to do:
  • i haven't something borrowed or something blue, nor a sixpence for my shoe
  • waffling on the shoes in general - need to decide soon to get the hem on the dress right
  • we are in discussions again over groom's attire
  • have found a couple of cake vendors that do gluten free cakes but have yet to interview or do tastings
  • have researched many photographers but have yet to interview/ choose one
  • idea of what to do with my hair is in flux and not crazy about the prices that hair people charge but afraid of day-of freakout and non-cooperative hair that day putting me more on edge
  • idea for bouquets and misc flowers but no florists decided on yet
  • ideas collected but no discussion yet for invite designs
  • ideas collected but no discussion yet for decorations and favors
  • P hasn't yet chosen a best man
  • haven't looked at wedding bands yet but have a general idea of what we want: silver, plain, simple
  • frustrating setback for officiates and starting our search again from scratch
  • looking forward to my cousin's wedding this summer and hoping she is stressing less than we
while we respect other couples' choices to do differently,
we are feeling liberated by not doing the following:

  • no limo
  • no videographer
  • not distracted by a need for gobs of makeup
  • no DJ
  • no excess bridesmaids/groomsmen
  • no tiny tots in the wedding (ringbearers and the like)
  • venue is the same for wedding and reception
  • venue and caterer are the same so one fewer vendor to deal with
P has also asked me to note that we are trying to keep things in perspective: That life is about more than wedding planning. That the 'big picture' of the wedding is larger than any of the minute details that could possibly go wrong. And that marriage is about more than the wedding day itself.
