After some delay due to massive quantities of snow, P and my mom and i finally made it down to our Wedding/reception venue this morning to hash out the details and sign the contract. Soooooo happy and relieved that is finally behind us. Pictures posted here (including a short 360 view video with P being silly at the end)
When we were first engaged P had this notion that because i was female i would have had my wedding totally planned out since i was 6. lol I actually never expected to marry and thus had NO idea what i wanted when this all began and informed him that he was expected to help me make decisions. He is a very we're-in-this-together sort of man and as such has given well thought out input where i have asked for it. However he is nearing the end of things-he-has-any-opinion-about... or so he says. I'm noticing he still has opinions on invitations (fonts specifically) and other such items, but when it comes to the decorative aspects i'm on my own.
So you have an idea what we are planning:
* intimate sunday morning wedding
* afternoon hors d'ouvres reception
* making my corset and dress and DIYing as much else as possible
Here is what we have accomplished:
* venue chosen, contract signed
* venue is also our caterer and most of the reason we picked the venue as we needed someone capable of providing gluten free food
* invite list updated and approved by the moms
* dress is coming along nicely and my mom and i have had a dress-shopping 'event' - she is hoping to pick up the silk next week when she flies out to Cali
* MOH chosen and she and i have briefly discussed dresses and will try to find something we like this spring
* P and i decided what his haircut will be for the wedding
* chuppah designed (we're making it), have decided to cover with P's tallis from his bar mitzvah, P-mom to decorate
* P-mom has purchased decorations for the rehearsal dinner and is working on a venue
* P and i have designed our Ketubah and we have most of the text chosen
* we have a good start on choosing music for the whole day (we will be ipod-ing it) and have hired a friend to "push the button, Frank"
* ceremony is about 3/4 written
* my brother has kindly agreed to walk me down the aisle
* i have my something old (great grandma's ring) and my something new (the dress) and my something blue (late step-grandmother's cameo that i am thinking of attaching to my bouquet)
* solid idea of what flowers i want in my bouquet, my MoH's bouquet, and the bouts and corsages
* started getting quotes from bakeries for our cake(s) but for a gluten free cake there aren't many choices (and are all WAY over our tiny budget!!) so i'm thinking of asking a friend who is a whiz in the kitchen
* figured out mostly what i want to do with my hair and tried out the top 2 styles which i liked and felt nice and solid still after 4 hours, still deciding if i should do myself or have someone do it for me
* need to contact the kosher meal caterers for P's brother's family's food
* invite style chosen and about half done with the design/wording details
* have picked out some simple silver wedding bands, but waiting to purchase till closer to the wedding
left to do:
* i haven't something borrowed nor a sixpence for my shoe
* waffling on the shoes in general - thinking of wearing my boots **which i love** or finding/making some comfy flats
* while i've finished the corset and underdress/lining i still need to finish the petticoat and attach the silk when i get it in a few weeks, never mind any beading i decide to add - and i'm expecting most if not all will need to be done by hand - i've got a long road ahead and sore fingertips... :P
* we have tabled discussions over groom's attire for the time being
* have researched many photographers but have yet to interview/ choose one (and am choking a bit over the prices...)
* no florists decided on yet
* we have decided on a cake topper design but haven't purchased materials to make it yet
* we have a great idea for our guestbook pages but haven't designed/made them yet
* ideas collected but no decision yet for decorations and favors as my initial findings show any favors i like being way over budget, even the diy options... :(
* P has chosen his best man but hasn't yet asked him
* frustrating setback for officiates and starting our search again from scratch - anyone know a good officiate in the Indianapolis area willing to follow a script?
* we so have no ideas for honeymoons except "someplace warmer than here" and also within the USA. Also needs to be somewhere i can safely eat as gluten free foods aren't as readily available everywhere as they are here. Any suggestions? I wouldn't even mind something within driving distance of Indy (an hour or three away) if we had to, but we are just SO uninspired...
* looking forward to my cousin's wedding this summer and hoping she is stressing less than we
while we respect other couples' choices to do differently, we are feeling liberated by not doing the following:
* no limo
* no videographer
* no DJ
* no excess bridesmaids/groomsmen
* no tiny tots *in* the wedding (ringbearers and the like)
* no keepsake glasses or cake cutting utensils
P has been a huge support, especially lately. Amid wedding planning i am still trying to find a new job and thus worrying about the budget. P keeps reminding me that "if [insert must-have wedding item/event] doesn't happen or falls apart they don't take our marriage license away." He deserves a medal.
